Students and staff at Commack Road Elementary School were treated to a special musical performance this week when the NYPD Jazz Band visited, filling the auditorium with vibrant jazz melodies and rhythms that had the whole school swaying. The performance, part of the NYPD’s ongoing community outreach, showcased a repertoire of jazz standards and popular tunes performed by the department’s talented ensemble.

slip High School took a meaningful step back in time while celebrating excellence on the mat, honoring legendary wrestling coach Joe Patrovich and the school’s 2006 New York State Championship wrestling team during a special recognition ceremony. The evening served as both a tribute and a reunion, welcoming back former athletes, coaches, family members, and supporters who played a role in one of the most successful eras in Islip wrestling history. Applause filled the gymnasium as the community reflected on the dedication, discipline, and leadership that defined Coach Patrovich’s career and the championship team’s historic run.

The Islip School District once again filled its school buildings with music, joy, and holiday spirit during its annual holiday caroling trip. This cherished tradition brings students together across grade levels. Students from Islip High School and the middle school traveled throughout the district to visit the elementary schools, turning ordinary school days into festive celebrations. Each stop featured an assembly packed with seasonal songs, smiling faces, and the unmistakable energy that comes from students performing for—and with—one another.

Students from the Islip's Business Leadership Club and Chick-fil-A Leader Academy combined leadership and holiday spirit by hosting a successful Pancake Breakfast with Santa fundraiser in support of the Islip American Legion. The event welcomed approximately 100 community members to the American Legion hall. Families enjoyed a full pancake breakfast prepared by local veterans and were able to reaise more than $3,500.
