At Islip Schools, we believe every child deserves the chance to grow, learn, and shine in their own unique way. Our Student Support Services team is here to partner with families, teachers, and the community to make sure students with diverse learning needs feel supported every step of the way. We provide programs and resources that focus not only on academic growth, but also on building confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging. Together, we work to create a caring and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
Welcome to the Student Support Services Department
The Office of Student Support Services is responsible for special education services and supports for students with disabilities throughout the district. Most importantly, we provide programs and placements for students with disabilities so each student may reach their full potential. In order to be eligible for special education services, a student’s performance in school must be negatively impacted by a specific physical, social/emotional, or learning disability. The services that a child with a disability receives are determined based on their specific, individual needs. Please refer to “A Guide to the Special Education Referral Process” for detailed explanation of the CSE/CPSE process.
